CHAP Initiator Settings

The ‘CHAP Initiator Settings’ page allows you to define the Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) credentials that your appliance should expect from initiators that are attempting to access all the volumes.  An example of the CHAP initiator settings page is shown below.

This sections also explains the common tasks associated with the CHAP Initiators page -

Creating CHAP Initiators

Perform the following steps to create a CHAP initiator:
  • To add a record, click the ‘Add New Record’ button found at the bottom of the table.  The display will change to edit mode as shown below.
  • Type in values in the ‘Initiator Username’ and ‘Initiator Secret’ fields.  These values should align with the username and secret (password) fields that you supply on your server iSCSI initiator software.  Initiator secrets (passwords) must be at least 12 characters in length.  Initiator usernames should be all lower case.  Note that some operating systems may have restrictions on the maximum length of initiator secrets (passwords).  For instance, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 only supports secrets of up to 16 characters.
  • When you have finished creating the entry, click the check icon Green_Check_20X18.png on the left side of the row to save your changes, or click the ‘delete’ icon Red_Cross_20X20.png on the left side of the row to discard your changes.
