This section explains how a chasis is removed and replaced in case of a chasis failure for a StorSimple appliance.

Should you encounter a chassis failure and StorSimple has shipped you a replacement chassis, it will arrive only with power supplies.  No controller modules, solid state disk drives (SSDs), or hard disk drives (HDDs) will be included.

To swap the chassis, first ensure that the system you are replacing is powered down and disconnected from all power sources.  Remove the unit from the rack.  Remove each of the drives using the procedures listed above, remembering the slots in which they were installed.  Remove the controller modules, remembering the slots in which they were installed.

Once you have removed the controller modules and disk drives from the chassis you are replacing and you have removed it from the rack, mount the new chassis in the rack.  Refer to the rackmount installation guide if necessary for assistance.  Once the chassis is mounted in the rack, install the controller modules in the same position as they were installed in previously.  Then, install the SSDs and HDDs in the same position and slot as they were installed in previously.

With the system mounted in the rack and components installed, connect your appliance to the appropriate power sources, and power the unit on.
